The World Bank and the Government of India signed a $ 750 million agreement for the 'MSME Emergency Measures Program' on 6 July 2020. The World Bank's 'MSME Emergency Measures Program' will cater to the immediate cash and credit requirements of about 1.5 million profitable MSMEs, helping them to cope with the effects of the current shock as well as to protect millions of jobs.

The World Bank has so far committed $ 2.75 billion to provide necessary support in India's emergency COVID-19 measures, including the MSME project. The first emergency aid of $ 1 billion was announced in April this year to provide immediate support to India's health sector.
