• वैश्विक आर्थिक मंच की वैश्विक लैंगिक भेद अनुपात रिपोर्ट 2021 में 156 देशों की सूची में भारत 140वें स्थान पर है और दक्षिण एशिया में सबसे खराब प्रदर्शन करने वाला तीसरा देश है।
• वैश्विक लैंगिक भेद अनुपात सूची 2020 में भारत का स्थान 153 देशों की सूची में 112वां था।
• आर्थिक भागीदारी और अवसर की सूची में भी गिरावट आई है और रिपोर्ट के अनुसार इस क्षेत्र में लैंगिक भेद अनुपात तीन प्रतिशत और बढ़कर 32.6 प्रतिशत पर पहुंच गया है।
• सबसे ज्यादा कमी राजनीतिक सशक्तीकरण उपखंड में आई है। यहां महिला मंत्रियों की संख्या (वर्ष 2019 में 23.1 प्रतिशत थी जो 2021 में घट कर 9.1 प्रतिशत) काफी कम हुई है।
• महिला श्रम बल भागीदारी दर 24.8 प्रतिशत से गिर कर 22.3 प्रतिशत रह गयी।
• भारत के पड़ोसी मुल्कों में से बांग्लादेश इस सूची में 65, नेपाल 106, पाकिस्तान 153, अफगानिस्तान 156, भूटान 130 और श्रीलंका 116वें स्थान पर हैं।
• दक्षिण एशिया में केवल पाकिस्तान और अफगानिस्तान सूची में भारत से नीचे हैं।

• Another generation of women will have to wait for gender parity, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2021. As the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be felt, closing the global gender gap has increased by a generation from 99.5 years to 135.6 years.

• The Global Gender Gap Index benchmarks the evolution of gender-based gaps among four key dimensions (Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment) and tracks progress towards closing these gaps over time. 
• This year, the Global Gender Gap index benchmarks 156 countries, providing a tool for cross-country comparison and to prioritize the most effective policies needed to close gender gaps. The methodology of the index has remained stable since its original conception in 2006, providing a basis for robust cross-country and time-series analysis. 
• The Global Gender Gap Index measures scores on a 0 to 100 scale and scores can be interpreted as the distance to parity (i.e. the percentage of the gender gap that has been closed). The 14th edition of the report, the Global Gender Gap Report 2020, was launched in December 2019, using the latest available data at the time. 
• The 15th edition, the Global Gender Gap Report 2021, comes out a little over one year after COVID-19 was officially declared a pandemic. Preliminary evidence suggests that the health emergency and the related economic downturn have impacted women more severely than men, partially re-opening gaps that had already been closed
